Women are a great pillar of society and the functioning of our day to day lives. This list contains the top 10 most influential women in Uganda in 2024. From politics to entertainment, sports and other sectors of day to day lives, women play a crucial role and without them, society surely wouldn’t be the same. Indeed God bless the woman. So without wasting time, let’s dive into the list of the top 10 most influential women in Uganda:-
- Sheebah Karungi

Starting off our list is none other than musician, Sheebah Karungi. The self styled Queen Karma has been on top of the charts for nearly a decade now. She has defined the saying of grass to grace. Sheebah has inspired a whole lot of a generation including the competition she’s having now.
On top of that, she’s an avid voice championing women’s rights. It’s fair to say that she’s been the most influential female singer for the kast couple of years. The Neyanziza singer has even proven that she’s not just a lioness in the jungle but also a queen.
- Charlotte Kainerugaba

She’s the wife of first son and CDF, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. To some, she’s a potential first lady probably in the future. And over the years shes proven to be a calm well rounded and naturally endowed woman.
Not much is known about her but she’s the definition of elegance and class. Since nobody determines fate, we can only wait to see what the future holds for her.
- Winnie Byanyima

She might not spend much of her time in Uganda, but Ms Byanyima is a woman of influence back in the Pearl of Africa. From being married to one of the country’s most notable political figures, Dr. Kiiza Besigye to heading some of the world’s biggest organizations such as Oxfam and UNAIDS, Byanyima is a real influence not only to the girl child but the country at large.
- Barbie Itungo

She’s someone we have known for over two decades now since she’s been married to one of the country’s most famous singers, Bobi Wine. Barbie has seen the immense transition of her husband from a ghetto ragamuffin to one of the country’s most feared and respected politicians.
However, the ghetto first lady has a career and life of her own outside Bobi Wine’s life. A distinguished human rights activist especially for the girl child, Barbie has showed that she’s one of the most influential ladies in the Pearl of Africa.
- Hon. Robinah Nabbanja

She rose to acclaimed limelight after the 2021 general elections. This followed her announcement by President Museveni as the Rt. Hon Prime Minister. Nabbanja was in the political circles before but this promotion put on the A-table of the country’s leaders and most notable figures.
It’s fair to say that Nabbanja jas played her role pretty well despite the obstacles she has faced. Whether she’s chosen to lead the government business department, if in case the NRM reclaims power in 2026 remains to be seen.
- Col. Edith Nakalema

She might be a surprise on the list but Nakalema seems to be a darling fir the President. Apparently, she heads the Anti Corruption Court which was formed by President Museveni to fight corruption against different government agencies in the country. Although she has faced several challenges in executing her job, she has done it to the beat of her abilities.
- Beti Kamya

Once a thorn in the ruling government’s boots, the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya went on to head one of the most powerful institutions in the country. The Inspectorate’s main role is to audit and provide means of averting corruption in different government agencies. Kamya has done her job pretty well although the execution of her recommendations has been quite lacking.
- Sylvia Nagginda

The Nabagerekka/Queen of Buganda is another influential woman in the nation. She’s a queen of arguably the biggest, influential and most powerful kingdom in the country, Buganda Kingdom.
She has championed several causes such as education and girls child rights. Her famous Kisaakate is one of the most successful ventures aimed at imparting social skills into young people.
- Janet Kataha Museveni

She’s the first lady and wife to President Museveni. Therefore this is self explanatory. A former MP, Mrs. Museveni is currently the Minister of Education and Sports.
She has been a very key figure in championing the girl child rights, family values, ending HIV among others. The Ruhama born native is considered a mother to many and the nation at large. It might be a surprise that she’s not at number one but she’s never been one for the attention.
- Anita Annet Among

Who else to top the list of the most influential women in Uganda if not the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Among. She assumed this role after the death of the then Speaker, Hon Jacob Oulanyah.
Among who is the woman MP of Bukedea district has seen her power rise quickly ever since her election. When chairing the house, one doesn’t have to open their ears wide to see her power. As of now, there is no woman that is more powerful than her. She’s also married to fellow MP and FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo.
